Grand Hotel du Boulevard is one of the oldest hotels in Bucharest, designed by the same architect as the Bucharest University, Alexandru Orăscu. The monumental building of the Grand Hotel du Boulevard is located across Military Circle. Construction started in 1867 required six years until the first facade was finished on the boulevard of the University and the hotel officially opened in 1873 as Hotel Herdan, changing its name to Grand Hotel du Boulevard in 1877.
In those times, when the hotels did not receive star classification as they do today, Grand Hotel du Boulevard received gold medals at 1906 Milan and 1911 Turin Exhibitions. International influence was very strong until 1937 through foreign hotel managers as John Muller, H. Horn, Fr. Screiber, M. Bertola, S. Rosenthal.
The Romanian Ministry of Culture has declared the building A class architectural and cultural monument.
Niro Investment Group has developed a large investment project consisting in consolidation, refurbishment and restoration of the historic building located downtown Bucharest.
In March 2018, Corinthia Hotels and Niro Investment Group signed a long-term partnership for opening a new luxury property in Bucharest: Grand Hotel du Boulevard, a symbolic historic building. Built in 1867, the listed building was last used as a hotel over a decade ago and will now undergo refurbishment to sit in line with the signature standards of timeless luxury and style associated with Corinthia.
